Visual inspection is the most basic method of non-destructive testing. The primary problem encountered with visual evaluation has always involved the limits of accessibility to the inspection areas. As the world’s foremost producer of flexible borescopes, Machida has been solving these accessibility problems for many industries.
A fiberscope, also known as a “borescope,” is an optical instrument consisting of a fiber bundle with an objective lens at one end and an eyepiece at the other, for viewing objects not accessible to direct viewing. Generally used in areas where tortuous bends or curves necessitate a flexible device, a fiberscope consists of a coherent fiberoptic bundle, light guide fiber, and a flexible protective sheath enclosing wires for probe deflection.

Simple to use as a pair of binoculars, borescopes magnify and illuminate the area being scanned and present the image at the eye piece for inspection. You can even capture your inspection on video to provide valuable documentation records.  Call 1-800-366-1263 to see how borescopes from CDB Instruments can assist with your inspection needs!
